Here is where you can learn about me.
The most important thing in my life is my family. I have been married since 2002 and have three children (two boys and a girl). We live in Outlane (in Calderdale). Having a family is perhaps the most challenging thing a person can do; but also certainly the most rewarding. I feel local and national government should do all they can to protect, promote and strengthen the family; without trespassing on the freedom, choices and wishes of parents or that family.
I run my own business and have done since 2012. My company works under several Government schemes to provide energy saving home improvements (insulation) to homes across West Yorkshire. We have insulated properties in Greetland & Stainland and beyond. I am familiar with the pressures and stresses that befall business owners. As a result, I am committed to lightening the load of small businesses by supporting them, stimulating investment in the area, regenerating parts of the Ward and campaigning for people to buy local wherever possible.
Active in the Local Community
Aside from my family and work, I am also active in the local community. I am a Christian and attend the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I am also the current Treasurer of Christians Together Calderdale which amongst other things is a homeless charity based in Halifax. I have also worked on several service projects in the local area, including at Outlane Methodist Church. I am committed to assisting all local community groups that work to improve the area we live in.
I completed my law degree at Leeds University, also completing a master’s degree in International & European Human Rights at the same university. I was called to the Bar at Lincoln’s Inn in 2007 and am a qualified barrister (non-practising).
Here to help
My character is inclined towards helping people. For that reason, I am standing for election as your local councillor as I can provide the level of service, representation and support for individuals, families and businesses that the Ward needs.
